History of Prince George's Community College Athletics
Prince George's Community College athletics started with a men's basketball program when the college was housed at Suitland High School in Upper Marlboro, Md. in the late 1950s-early 1960s. When the college moved to its current location on the Largo campus in 1968 the athletic department expanded to add sports that included at one point baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's bowling, golf, softball and men's and women's track and field. The athletic department current sponsors baseball, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's soccer, and men's and women's track and field.

Prince George's has a history of excellence that includes men's track and field national championships in the 4x100-meter relay (2010), 400-meter hurdles (2013-14) and women's track and field national champions in the 400-meter dash (2012), 4x100-meter relay (2013-14), the 400-meter dash (2013, 2018) and the 100-meter hurdles (2014). Also on the national stage, the 1979 softball team finished as the national runners-up while the men's soccer team has posted third (1982), fifth (1983), fourth (1999) and fifth (2016) standings in the National Junior College Athletic Conference in program history.
