opening pitch… Prince George's continues its 10-game homestand when it welcomes another branch of the Community College of Baltimore County with CCBC Catonsville coming to town on Thursday. The Cardinals have won three of the last four meetings in the series against the Owls.

the word on cardinals… CCBC Catonsville comes into the contest 4-5 overall and 0-0 in Maryland JUCO after sweeping a three-game series against Sussex County Community College over the weekend. Brady Adam leads the team with a .500 batting average, eight hits, five runs scored, two triples and five RBIs. Jordan Sanders boasts a .391 batting average with nine hits, seven runs scored, two homers and seven RBIs. Carson Pinkney has logged the most innings on the team with 11.1 and is 0-2 with eight strikeouts this season.

last time out… CCBC Essex defeated Prince George's Community College 8-4 on Tuesday. The game was called in the top of the ninth inning due to darkness with the Knights batting. Ryan Faircloth paced the Owls with two hits and an RBI while Bay To registered two runs scored. Dwayne Coleman posted a hit, a run scored and an RBI, and Naquan Holden also knocked in a run on the afternoon.

next on tap… Prince George's welcomes Garrett College to the PGCC Baseball Field for a doubleheader on Sunday before concluding the 10-game homestand against Harford Community College on Tuesday. After the game against Harford, the Owls will play their next four games on the road.

by the stats… Brandon Crosby leads the Maryland JUCO in batting average (.545) and RBIs (22) while ranking second in stolen bases (11) and fifth in doubles (5). The freshman also leads NJCAA Division III in stolen bases while ranking third in the nation in RBIs and fourth in batting average. Harold Marte is tied for the Maryland JUCO lead for homers with four and ranks sixth in the nation in the category. Ryan Faircloth is third in the conference in batting average (.522) and eighth in the nation while Faircloth and teammate Dwayne Coleman are seventh in Maryland JUCO in home runs (2).  Dakota McFadden is fourth in the conference in batting average (.500), fourth in wins (2), fourth in double (6), fifth in RBIs (14) and seventh in strikeouts (20) while ranking eighth in Division III in both doubles and wins and ninth in batting average. Jonathan Mahoney is fourth in the conference and ninth in the nation with 24 strikeouts and is tied with McFadden and Kevin Kornieck for fourth in Maryland JUCO with two wins.

the roster… Head coach Buddy Foster has added 11 freshman to his team in 2017 while returning 10 players from last year's team.

a loss to the owls family... Legendary Prince George's baseball coach William "Bumps" Vaughan passed away at the age of 90 on Feb. 25. In his long career as a head coach includes 21 years at the helm of the Owls from 1986-2005. The Owls will be wearing a special patch on their uniforms in honor of Vaughan and the athletic department will pay tribute to the legendary coach at an upcoming game.

about the coach… Head coach Buddy Foster enters his sixth season as the head coach of the baseball team. Foster has been at Prince George's since the 2009 campaign after serving as the squad's pitching coach for three seasons before being elevated to the head coach position. He
