Prince George's Athletics Hosts Awards Banquet

On Friday, April 24th the PGCC Athletics Department hosted its annual end of year banquet, bringing together student-athletes, coaches, staff, and supporters to commemorate a year of hard work and achievement. Despite being moved indoors due to inclement weather, teams were well represented and celebrated throughout the evening as department wide awards were announced while each head coach revealed their team's Coaches Award, Owl Award, and Most Valuable Player.

Coaches Award – Given to a student-athlete that is willing to be coached

Owl Award – Given to a student athlete who may not receive much recognition or have the most impressive stats, but is an invaluable member of the team

MVP – Most Valuable Player of each team

Men's Soccer – Coach Taiye Akinmboni

In addition to team honors were the Academic Excellence Awards for exceptional performance in the classroom as well as Owl Dedication Awards which are presented to student athletes who participated in two years for their sport at the Prince George's.

Headlining the department awards were the Male and Female Outstanding Owls which are given out to an individual that not only excels in their respective sport but are also a standout student and exemplify what the Athletic Department represents. This year's female student athlete was given to women's basketball player Kristin Smith. The selection committee landed on Co-Outstanding Owls on the men's side this year, awarding men's basketball Willie Rivera Jr. and baseball's Darrell Pender Jr.
