Women’s Soccer Finishes First Season Back in Over a Decade, Qualifies for Region 20 DII Tournament

In its first season back in competition over a decade, the Prince George's Community College women's soccer team wrapped up their regular season on Monday afternoon, finishing the year with a 6-6-1 record and a berth in the upcoming NJCAA Region 20 Division II Tournament.

Led by coach Bonnie Hyde, the Owls snapped a two-game skid with a 1-0 road win over Frederick Community College to finish the year on a high note. Sophomore captain Jeily Garmendez scored the match-winner in the 77th minute, while freshman goalkeeper Gift Onunaku made two key saves to preserve the shutout.

Prince George's currently holds the #4 seed, positioning themselves to hold a first-round playoff match. Final seedings and matchups will be determined following the conclusion of Region 20 games on Tuesday, October 21. Tournament play begins Saturday, October 25th with the top four teams each hosting opponents seeded 5-8.
