Prince George's men's basketball suffered their third straight loss on Wednesday evening, December 4th when Howard Community College visited Novak Field House and defeated the Owls by a final score of 78-53. With the loss, the Owls fall to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in Maryland JUCO play while the Dragons improve to 8-1, 2-0 MD JUCO.
Prince George's was able to fire off plenty of shots and create scoring opportunities but simply couldn't find the bottom of the net, shooting a lowly 30 percent from the floor throughout the contest. The Owls led for the majority of the first three minutes of play but trailed for the remainder of the game as Howard quickly took back the lead. Prince George's was able to put together an 8-0 run that began with 10:25 to play in the first half and brought the Owls within 4 at the 8:06 mark before the Dragons closed out the half on a 21-6 run to head into halftime in control, 43-26.
The Owls were unable to get much going in the second half either, ultimately being outscored 35-27 in the final 20 minutes in the defeat despite improving upon their shooting performance from the first half. Sophomore Tunde Scrivner again led the scoring for the Owls with 14 points while fellow sophomore Brandon Joseph gathered a team high 7 rebounds. The Owls will have a few days to regroup and focus on their fundamentals before a busy weekend at home with games on both Saturday and Sunday. Prince George's will first take on Butler County Community College December 7th at 4 pm inside Novak Field House.
