Prince George's Community College baseball started fast but couldn't hold off Chesapeake College in a 14-5 9-inning road loss on Wednesday.
The Owls jumped out to a 5-0 lead over the first two innings, highlighted by early run production and a strong start from Akil Barlow Jr., who allowed just one hit through four innings before being replaced in the fifth.
Chesapeake responded in the fifth, rallying to tie the game at 5-5 before taking control with three runs in the sixth. Prince George's had a chance to answer in the seventh with the bases loaded, but a defensive stop ended the threat.
Chesapeake pulled away late, scoring six additional runs to secure the win.
The Owls return to action Saturday for a 1 PM Region 20 Division II doubleheader at Westmoreland County Community College.
