Owls Explode for Doubleheader Sweep Over Dundalk

The Prince George's Community College baseball team's bats came alive in a big way over the weekend, sweeping CCBC Dundalk in a road doubleheader by a combined score of 38-4.

Prince George's jumped on Dundalk pitching early and never let up. The Owls showed impressive discipline at the plate, drawing 29 walks across the two games, while aggressively attacking the basepaths with 12 stolen bases. Darrell Pender Jr. led the way with seven steals on the day, including five in Game 2. He now ranks first in the nation in stolen bases with 45 through 36 games.

Akil Barlow Jr. powered the offense, driving in ten runs during the sweep. He delivered a grand slam in game one and followed it up with a three-run home run in game two, finishing the day 3-for-5 at the plate.

The Owls most explosive frame came in Game 2, when they erupted for 12 runs in a single inning to put the game out of reach.

On the mound, Lyric Hartley earned the win in game one, striking out four over four innings. Sophomore Avery Skaggs dominated in Game 2, tossing a five-inning complete-game shutout while allowing just one hit and striking out six.

The Owls will look to stay hot on Monday when they travel to take on CCBC Catonsville for a single 9-inning contest at 3:30 PM.
