Owls Beat CCBC Catonsville, 9-4

The bottom of the Owls lineup came through in a big way Monday afternoon as Prince George's Community College bested CCBC Catonsville 9-4 in a 9-inning contest.

Davyd Gilbert, Garrett Duquette, and Jibril Scott set the tone offensively, combining for six of the Owls nine hits while scoring three and driving in five runs. Prince George's wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, taking advantage of a CCBC error in the first inning to score two runs. Catonsville answered right back, scoring two themselves to tie things up.

The Owls broke things open in the third inning with singles from Jordan Gibson, Gilbert, and Duquette to spark a four-run inning that ultimately put the Owls in front for good, 6-2. Prine George's tacked on two more runs in the 6th before their final run scored in the eight. Catonsville managed two more runs in the bottom of the eighth but couldn't put enough together to begin a comeback.

Akil Barlow Jr. had a solid day on the mound as he earned the win with seven innings pitched, as he picked up 6 strikeouts on the day. Bryan Perez was effective in relief, tossing the final two innings with two strikeouts.

The Owls improve to 12-25 on the year with Monday's win ahead of their next matchup, another 9-inning contest on Thursday, April 23rd back in Largo versus College of Southern Maryland.
