Prince George's Community College men's basketball turned in a dominant weekend, going 2-0 on a demanding Western Pennsylvania road trip and improving to 9-2 overall, including a perfect 3-0 mark in Region 20 Division II play.
The Owls opened the weekend on Saturday afternoon with a tight 74-70 win over Community College of Beaver County. Prince George's carried a 46-37 lead into halftime and maintained control down the stretch to secure the victory.
Sophomore Willie Rivera Jr. led all scorers with 20 points, pacing an offense that got a major boost from its bench. Jermaine Taylor and Kelly Okoroh each contributed 13 points and 3 rebounds, giving the Owls depth in the win.
Less than 24 hours later, Prince George's offense exploded in Youngwood, PA as the Owls surpassed the 100-point mark for the third time this season in a 102-89 win over Westmoreland County Community College.
Rivera Jr. once again led the way, finishing with 19 points and 8 assists. Kadon Fossett followed closely with 18 points, while starters Paul Vance III (13 points) and Lynn King III (11 points) also reached double figures. In total, the starting five accounted for 66 of the team's 102 points, with seven of eight reserves contributing on the scoreboard as well.
The Owls efficiency stood out on Sunday, as they shot 52.7% from the field and 50% (12-24) from three-point range, a noticeable jump from their matchup a day prior.
After the 2-0 weekend the Owls get a few days of rest before returning to action on Friday with another road matchup against CCBC Dundalk for a 7 PM tip-off.
