Prince George's Community College men's basketball closed out 2025 in thrilling fashion Thursday night, storming back from a 16-point deficit to defeat Division I Harford Community College, 68–63, in Novak Field House in a battle of the Owls.
Prince George's trailed 42–31 at halftime after struggling from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line. Harford quickly extended the margin with five straight points to open the second half, pushing the lead to 47–31 and putting the Owls in their deepest hole of the night.
Refusing to fold, Prince George's responded with a 7–0 run to regain momentum. A dominant 10–0 surge later in the half - highlighted by an electrifying put-back dunk from Dyan Carter brought the Owls within one at 49–48 with 11:11 remaining, erasing any earlier doubts.
The Owls continued to chip away, tying the game at 55 with 7:39 to play on a Lynn King III layup. Moments later, Paul Vance III scored inside to give Prince George's its first lead since the opening minutes, 57–55. The teams traded baskets down the stretch, with Harford knotting the game at 63 with under two minutes remaining.
After Prince George's missed a go-ahead attempt and Harford came up empty on a transition dunk, the Owls secured possession and controlled the clock during a crucial 50-second stretch that included two offensive rebounds. With 20 seconds left, Willie Rivera Jr. delivered the dagger, drilling a step-back three to put the Owls ahead for good, 66–63. Harford's final attempt fell short, and Prince George's sealed the comeback with two late free throws.
The victory lifts the Owls to 11–2 overall and a perfect 11–0 NJCAA record to close out 2025.
Rivera Jr. led the Owls with 13 points, continuing a clutch stretch that included a game-tying jumper against CCBC Dundalk last Saturday that sent that contest to overtime. Vance III narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds, while King III added 12 points and 8 boards. Kelly Okoroh provided a spark off the bench with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Prince George's will enjoy time off over winter break before opening 2026 with a road trip to North Carolina, facing Davidson-Davie on Friday, January 2, followed by East Georgia State on Saturday, January 3.
