Harris Named MD JUCO Conference Coach of the Year

Prince George's Community College head men's basketball coach Terrell Harris has once again been named the Maryland JUCO Conference Coach of the Year, it was announced Tuesday, May 19, at the Region 20/MD JUCO meetings held in Ocean City, Maryland. Harris previously won the award in 2022-23 in his first season as head coach with the program.

The annual award is voted on by the fifteen NJCAA men's basketball head coaches across the state, which establishes the Bob Kirk Men's Basketball Coaches Association, named in honor of the late longtime men's basketball coach at Allegany College. Kirk compiled a remarkable 927-178 record over 33 seasons in charge of the Western Maryland program and was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 1997.

Coach Harris guided the Owls to a 25-8 overall record this past year during his fourth season at the helm of the Largo program. The Owls finished 11-3 in conference play, tied for the top record in the conference alongside Division I Allegany College of Maryland. The Owls earned the tiebreaker over Allegany due to their head-to-head matchup which Prince George's won on the road, 91-79. Harris has compiled a .661 (37-19) win percentage in conference games since joining in 2022.

Under Harris' leadership, the Owls made appearances in the NJCAA DII weekly rankings on the way to capturing the Region 20 and Mid-Atlantic District Championships which earned his team the #18 seed in the National Tournament. The 2025-26 season was the third visit to the National Tournament under Harris in his four years, and the first at the DII level since elevating from DIII following the 2023-24 season.
