The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team opened the 2026 calendar year on the road, splitting a challenging two-game trip to Thomasville, North Carolina.
Prince George's tipped off the weekend Friday night against host Davidson-Davie Community College, an NJCAA Division II program that began the season ranked number 5 in the national preseason poll. Coming off a long day of travel, the Owls struggled to find their rhythm early, falling behind by 15 at halftime. Davidson-Davie pulled away in the second half, handing Prince George's a 99-75 loss and snapping the Owls 11-game NJCAA winning streak.
Despite the setback, freshman Jermaine Taylor provided a bright spot, pouring in a career-high 20 points off the bench. Free-throw shooting proved costly for Prince George's, as the Owls converted just 19 of 37 attempts (51.4%), leaving 18 points at the line.
Less than 24 hours later, the Owls responded with resilience in a matchup against DI opponent East Georgia State College. Prince George's built a slim 39-33 halftime advantage in a tightly contested game and held on down the stretch to secure a 78072 victory.
The starting trio of Lynn Koing III (21 points, Kadon Fossett (14 points), and Willie Rivera Jr. (13 points) led the way, combining for 48 of the Owls 78 points to fuel the bounce-back win.
With the split, Prince George's moves to 12-3 on the season and returns home to Largo for its next contest on Wednesday, January 7th against the Community College of Allegheny County. The matchup continues a busy January stretch for the Owls, who are scheduled to play 11 games during the month.
